Louise Hay Reminds Me that I Can Do It…And You Can Too!

Heather and Louise Hay: I Can Do It Conference in VegasLas Vegas. The fact that Hay House’s I Can Do It conference was in Sin City seemed like an oxymoron, but I found out that like all things, it was perfect.

At this moment in my life, I was wrestling with belief and trust.

Have you ever had a time when things were going along smoothly and you finally thought you’d gotten “there,” when a series of circumstances knock you off kilter? That’s what happened to me.

Whenever this happens, I reach for the book my parents gave me when I was 14: Louise Hay’s, You Can Heal Your Life. In this book, Louise reminds me that my thoughts create my experience. My thoughts influence my health and with my thoughts, I can make anything happen.

How lucky that at this same time, the I Can Do It conference was being offered in Las Vegas (May 17 – 20, 2007) and Louise Hay would be speaking there.

I wasted no time registering and making travel arrangements and from the time I set foot in Las Vegas, I found myself focusing on my thoughts…believing and trusting in the process of Life.

Heather and Friends with Louise Hay: I Can Do It Conference in Vegas

Two of my dear friends came with me to share this amazing experience.

All of us at a time in our lives when we needed the messages we were about to learn.

The evening of the full conference began with a keynote from Wayne Dyer, who shared his experience of living 81 verses of the Tao and how it changed his life. Dr. Dyer taught us that after a lifetime of following rules, “getting things” and ambition, we could meet our true selves by following a life that has meaning.

Ever the inspiring storyteller, Dr. Dyer lifted us out of our fears and showed us the possibility of creating a life of being who we truly are.

On Saturday morning, the day started off perfectly with an opening from Louise Hay. The crowd jumped to their feet to applaud her as she glided out onto stage. A woman of 80 years, she is youthful, vibrant and exudes the power of belief.

The founder of the self-help movement, Louise Hay said exactly what I needed to hear:

“We aren’t bad people, we just get off track from time to time…We do not need to fix problems, we need to fix our thinking.”

While that may seem hard for us, it’s only because we have developed habits of thought that keep us limited and stuck. We are often focused on what we can’t have or what we don’t want, rather than what we do want.

In every moment, thoughts of fear, can’t and limitations stop us from feeling good, from being who we truly are.

We get stuck in judgment and critical thoughts.

Louise gave us hope on this day. And more than that, she reminded us that we have the tools we need to live our best lives: our thoughts. Two wonderful affirmations that Louise uses in her own life are:

  • Anytime you have a critical thought – “I forgive myself and I forgive you.”
  • To clear a sour atmosphere around you – “I bless and prosper everyone in my world and everyone in my world blesses and prospers me.”

To hear the whole audience repeat these affirmations was incredibly powerful.

If you weren’t feeling full of love when you walked in, you were certainly feeling it as Louise was speaking.

Looking around the conference hall with 7,000 people, I was filled with admiration for Louise. This amazing woman has created a movement of healing, love and power to create wonderful lives.

In a world that sometimes seems on the brink of destruction, Louise Hay has created a beacon of hope.

Heather and Louise Hay: I Can Do It Conference in VegasHer business, Hay House, leads the way with authors and workshops that continue to raise the level of consciousness of the world. Each contains messages that make us feel better one thought at a time.

One of the speakers, David R. Hawkins (author of the great book, Power vs. Force) said that even though 78% of the world’s population is vibrating at a low level of consciousness, the 22% vibrating at a higher level of consciousness is strong enough to balance the rest of mankind.

This is what Louise Hay is doing for the world. She has created – and continues to create – messages that support the world by raising our level of consciousness.

Just being at the I Can Do It conference makes me realize that as Louise says, “All is well in my world. I am safe.” I am left with a feeling that no matter what is happening in the world, everything will be okay.

Louise set the tone for the rest of the conference. With authors and speakers like Sylvia Brown, Sonia Choquette, Deepak Chopra, Iylana Vanzant, Doreen Virtue, Dr. Christiane Northrup, Collette Baron Reid, Marianne Williamson, Dr. Masaru Emoto, Bill Phillips and Darren Weissman, the whole conference was filled with incredible inspiration.

My friends and I were in awe of the power we felt at the I Can Do It conference. It was a weekend of discovery, joy and love. We left trusting our power to create our experiences with our thoughts.

I must admit that I am a conference junkie. I LOVE conferences…but I’ve never experienced anything like the I Can Do It conference. It tops the list as my all time favorite conference ever and I plan to make it a yearly event.

If you want an experience of a lifetime, go. The next conference is in October in Tampa. Or you can take a cruise with your favorite speakers.

Las Vegas may be Sin City, but I can assure you that the 7,000 people at the I Can Do It conference put out enough love and joy to heal the world. If we can walk through Sin City feeling the power of our positive thoughts, imagine what we can do as we return to our various corners of the world?

Thank you Louise Hay for helping us remember who we are meant to be.
