Where Is The Love, The Love, The Love?

Posted on Friday 28 July 2006

I’m writing from Utah, just after my 2nd day at Carol Tuttle’s coaching and energy healing bootcamp. I am so excited about what I am learning – all kinds of techniques to clear stuck energy and core issues – I can’t wait to write it all up and share with you!

The Secret
In the meantime, we had the opportunity to watch The Secret tonight. If you haven’t seen this movie yet, it’s a great reminder of the law of attraction – we create our own reality. Carol was kind enough to let Joel join us for the movie, which was great because he and I had plenty to talk about afterwards. While the movie was about a wide range of keys to the law of attraction, one of the key messages that I want to share is about love.

The Vibration of Love
As you remember from my post on law of attraction, you get what you put out – or you get what you focus on. Tonight I want to focus on love because this movie inspired me – and whenever I am inspired, my heart and spirit lifts up and vibrates love from the inside out. In this vibration, I feel capable of anything. In lower, negative vibrations, I feel stuck. It took me awhile to realize that I had the power to get myself unstuck – I didn’t know how to flip the switch myself and I kept seeking ways to do this as I swung in and out of recovery.

A Recovery Inspiration from A Reader - It Can Be Done!

Posted on Thursday 27 July 2006

Tonight I feel abundant with blessings because another reader has given me permission to post her inspirational message of recovery — It Can Be Done! As you read these words, feel them raise your energy — we all have the power to tap into the inspiration in J’s words. We all have the power to create recovery in our lives!

Healing Words
J is a member of my coaching group of readers from this blog. The women are amazing, beautiful souls. J has dubbed the group “inspiring women” and I agree. She offered us the gift of her written experience and I asked her to share it here because her words have the power to heal.

Notice how J reached out to others to come back to herself. Sometimes, being with people who are aligned with us energetically can be just what we need to create a shift in our lives — to see and know ourselves better. Especially when we tap into unconditional love.

Thank you J, for your healing words!

Fulfilling A Dream….Going to Utah, Got Any Suggestions?

Posted on Sunday 23 July 2006

Well, Joel and I are going to Utah on Wednesday for a week and a half. We are both really excited because we’ve wanted to go to Utah for years – specifically, mountain biking in Moab. While both of us have always liked mountain biking, it was me who really dreamed of Moab because of a picture I found in a magazine.

It All Began With A Picture
It was about 8 years ago and I don’t even remember what magazine it came from. All I remember is seeing about 3 people mountain biking on these amazing red rock trails with outrageous canyon views in layers of reds, oranges and browns – colors I don’t see much in New England. The mountain bikers appeared to be traveling along a ledge that was just big enough for biking or walking – probably no good if you have vertigo or hate heights — but it got me dreaming.

Part of The Inspiration
You may remember the posts I did on Carol Tuttle, Master Energy Therapist, Author and Spiritual Teacher. Well, she’s teaching her last ever boot camp in Sandy, Utah – just outside of Salt Lake City. After speaking with Carol, I was inspired by her – how she overcame her struggles with bulimia, depression and financial concerns and created a successful business helping others heal. I feel like I’m on a quest this year – to learn as much as I can and bring more solutions to my clients.

Emotional Freedom Technique Successes Piqued My Interest
I’ve been experimenting with the Emotional Freedom Technique since Carol talked about it as a way to clear core issues that keep us stuck. The success I’ve had with myself and my clients got me curious – I wanted to learn more. After talking to Joel, we decided to use this opportunity to go on vacation, which we have not done yet this year. The more we talked about it, the more excited we got. Sandy, Utah is right outside of Salt Lake City and only 4 hours from Moab – how cool is that?

Moab, Here We Come!
Joel and I are planning to head to Moab after my seminar with Carol. So far, we’ve read a lot about the area and are planning to visit Arches and Canyonlands National Parks. While in Canyonlands, I really want to see Great Gallery, where there are life-sized rock art figures. Our plans include hiking, a 4×4 trip (in honor of my sister and her husband who love jeeping and would kill us if we missed it!), whitewater rafting and of course, mountain biking.

Healing Through Releasing Emotional Trauma in the Abdomen – Part 2

Posted on Saturday 22 July 2006

If you have not read part 1 of this very enlightening interview with Lucy Mitchella, LMT, D.Ay., Herbalist and Maya Abdominal Massage practitioner, you may want to start there. This is part 2 of our discussion and in this post, I will cover more of Lucy’s insights on eating disorders and digestive distress, nourishment, IBS, constipation and frequent nighttime urination, among other things.

Calling All Bloggers & Readers in the New England Area
Lucy will be teaching the Maya Abdominal Massage Self-Care class I’m taking in August. The dates are August 11th – 13th in Marlboro, MA. I’d love to meet other bloggers and readers there – so if you’re thinking of going, let me know!

I was hoping to see Palmtreechick there, since I think she lives in New England — but unfortunately, the dates don’t work for her. It would be amazing to meet others there. Lucy will be doing a 30-minute personal evaluation with all students, so this will be a great opportunity to be treated by an incredibly knowledgeable woman, while learning to maintain our own health!

Nourishment
As Lucy talked to me about eating disorders and digestive distress, she said that in addition to trauma, emotions, fear, digestion and the freeze response, we also must consider nourishment. Nourishment occurs in stomach and spleen — including the feeling of being nurtured. Both nourishment and the feeling of nourishment are a physical and emotional aspect of self-love. This is where we are reminded of the mind-body. Our body gets messages from our mind and our mind also hears messages from the body.

The Body-Mind Connection & Negativity
So here’s what happens: any kind of negative messaging that has occurred in our lives, are believed by our tissues – and they end up functioning according to those messages. In shamanics, this is called “stories.” This sets up neural pathways (in your brain) and creates manifestations of those messages.

Healing Through Releasing Emotional Trauma in the Abdomen - Part 1

Posted on Friday 21 July 2006

I have long been intrigued by Maya Abdominal Massage – even before my recovery. It seemed to hold the promise of releasing emotional and physical trauma in my abdomen and I have gone back and forth about taking the self-care training.

“A Life-Changing Experience!”
Well, I finally decided to do it – after talking to Pamela Gerry, an amazing colon hydrotherapist in ME. She and I discussed the benefits of abdominal massage and as I talked about my fascination with Maya Abdominal Massage, she decided to take the class in July. She reported that it was a “life-changing experience.” Pamela, already excellent at what she does, is now looking into the professional certification – and I can just imagine how many people she’ll be able to help in the New England area.

My Interview With Lucy Mitchella, Maya Abdominal Massage Self-Care Teacher
And if Pamela’s experience with the training wasn’t enough to get me excited, I was nearly on the edge of my seat after interviewing Lucy Mitchella, LMT, D.Ay., Herbalist – who will be teaching the Self-Care class I’m taking in August. Lucy is an incredible woman with just the right background to understand the mind-body-spirit connection in healing.

Lucy was kind enough to spend time with me as I asked her questions about Maya Abdominal Massage, how it helps eating disorders and digestive distress – and much more. What she told me shed some light on a few missing links in my own studies on eating disorders. There was so much great information in my interview with Lucy that I broke it up into two parts – this is part 1.

The Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Massage
The Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Massage, developed by Dr. Rosita Arvigo, is an integration of ancient Mayan abdominal techniques and modern naprapathic techniques (naprapathy is a form of health care that addresses connective tissue, a cross between massage and chiropractic). Maya Abdominal Massage works on connective tissue, such as fascia, tendon and ligaments to help reposition abdominal organs, release adhesions from trauma or surgery and restore the flow of blood, nerve and chi (energy) through the abdominal cavity. The techniques are not just physical – they also address spiritual and emotional levels of illness and discomfort.

My Spiritual Journey to End Perfectionism

Posted on Tuesday 18 July 2006

Rhonda Lenair in Benson, VTYesterday I went to an appointment with Rhonda Lenair, the medical intuitive I credit with being the catalyst for my recovery. This visit was a little different from usual because the night before, I had picked up a client to come with me to visit Rhonda. My client, Sarah, came from Europe – all the way to Benson, VT – for her appointment.

Beautiful Journey
I love this trip – from my home in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, to Benson, VT it is outrageously beautiful. My trip spans the White and Green Mountain ranges – shimmering in a dozen different greens and rising into the sky. Along lovely, winding back roads, I see countless rivers – in a juxtaposition of peaceful rest and flowing activity. I am delighted by the typical New England scenes that made Norman Rockwell so famous: white houses with green shutters, old houses with tall white columns, red brick colonial style homes – plenty of history and all the scenes of people living simple, beautiful lives.

Worrying About What I Can’t Control
Before I picked Sarah up from the Rutland train station, all of the usual concerns crossed my mind (enter perfectionism): Will she like Vermont? What will she think of her appointment with Rhonda? Will it work for her?, etc. So many concerns – and yet, none of them were within my control. Looking back, I am reminded of all the time and energy I have spent worrying about things that are not within my control – worrying on behalf of others. And that worry causes me to not only do more than my share of work to organize things – it also robs me of energy by creating the “what if” stress.
