How I Learned To Be In My Truth

Posted on Friday 22 September 2006

A couple of weeks ago, I attended Carol Tuttle’s Becoming A Vibrant Woman, Living, Loving and Dressing Your Truth seminar. It’s interesting to me how I found my way to this class – because on the surface, it’s not one I would have imagined myself taking.

But a couple of things happened that inspired me to go – one was that since I started taking Carol’s programs, my whole life has moved to a higher level.

I have found myself trusting and believing in myself more – and while I always believed in my power to create my ideal life – magical things started to happen after applying what I learned from Carol (if you haven’t seen the interview I did with Carol on her own recovery from bulimia, you can find it here).

On The Brink, But Not Ready To Crossover
First of all, with all of the transitions and changes I’ve been going through, I was starting to get frustrated with myself at times.

I could feel myself on the brink of a profound shift in self-love and self-acceptance, but I hadn’t taken the step over the line that would free me once and for all. After attending Carol’s Energy Healing bootcamp, I leaped over the line and magical things started happening in my life.

Magical Happenings
My business started to take care of itself, cleaning up the clients that weren’t ideal and bringing a whole bunch of new clients into my practice that are in complete alignment with my goals.

I started to fully believe in my worth in all situations, so stating my fees and feeling confident about them became easy.

I no longer questioned the successes I’d had with clients in the past – or in my career as a whole – I started to see the value I can bring to others, without the self-doubt. My business quadrupled in a month and amazingly, I filled my coaching practice and have started a waiting list of clients.

How To Overcome Constipation

Posted on Monday 18 September 2006

I get a lot of e-mails and questions on how to overcome constipation. It’s no surprise that many of us struggle with bowel issues — IBS, gas, bloating, constipation — and if you read my post on Maya Abdominal Massage, you understand what starts to happen physically that can set this up. From my work with Donna Gates on the Body Ecology Diet, I’ve also learned that our adrenals and thyroid get stressed in any addiction or high stress situation. Low thyroid could be a reason for constipation because we need our thyroid to create the energy for a bowel movement.

I recently signed up for a newsletter from Dr. Ben Kim, who is a doctor of chiropractic and writes articles about natural health. I have liked a lot of what he’s had to say and wanted to learn more. Today, Dr. Kim sent a newsletter with 9 tips to have a comfortable bowel movement. After reading his article, I really agreed with a lot of what he said. Although I’d also like to add some of my own tips.

Could Protein Help With Eating Disorders?

Posted on Saturday 16 September 2006

I came across this interesting article in an online newsletter called the Well Being Journal. The article is by Julia Ross, author of the Diet Cure, who specializes in eating disorders. She’s worked with people with eating disorders and other addictions and in this article, she talks about how our deficiencies in essential amino acids (which make up protein) can cause mood disturbances like depression and OCD and physical issues like fatigue, lack of energy and mental fogginess.

Natural Prozac
I was excited to find this article because it corroborates the theory I’ve had about serotonin, which is a neurotransmitter produced in our gut and used by our brains as a natural type of Prozac. L-tryptophan is an essential amino acid (cannot be produced by our body) that is a precursor to serotonin. If we are born with a deficiency in serotonin, dieting or stress could tip us over the edge and set us up for an eating disorder.

How Our Thoughts Sabotage Us

Posted on Friday 15 September 2006

I’m not sure if you remember my post on how to banish negative thoughts, which highlighted “The Work” of Byron Katie? I had the opportunity to see Byron Katie live several years ago, when I had experienced a relapse after 1.5 years of recovery. At the time, I was dealing with some intense anger and pain regarding a person at work — and all the feelings that came along with being in a job that did not suit me. I really loved Byron Katie’s approach of questioning our thoughts — especially those that don’t serve us.

A Great New Blog!
I wanted to draw your attention to her new blog because it’s an excellent resource! In her blog, she has both written transcripts and videos where she facilitates people in pain through the process of The Work. The Work is basically 4 simple questions that allow us to really get a look at the thoughts we focus on in our minds. After going through these questions, you can really start to see how the thoughts you carry — or your story about yourself — can either help or hinder you.

A Great FREE Intestinal Health Newsletter

Posted on Tuesday 12 September 2006

You may remember the blog post where I interviewed Sheila Shea, an amazing woman who overcame eating disorders and is now supporting helping others create intestinal health. One of the most experienced colon therapists I know, Sheila has a lot of wisdom to share. Sheila kindly gave me permission to share her newsletter here — and if you have not already signed up for it, I highly recommend this wonderful, free resource! In this August 2006 newsletter, Sheila has started a dialogue on how to avoid constipation when traveling — and a great piece on how your subconscious mind affects your body. Take a look — and if you like it, click here to sign up and receive the newsletter!

Healing Crisis – Learning To Trust…Again

Posted on Wednesday 6 September 2006

I figured it was time to give you a little update on my health. I am in a new phase of my recovery now and in some ways it’s a celebration – and I must admit that in other ways, it’s been a bit of a frustration. First, the celebration – my Genova/Great Smokies follow up test was done and I am candida free!!! Both strains of pathogenic yeast that were in my system are now gone. The major difference that I notice is no more cravings. At all. It is amazing – I am free of cravings for sweets, bread and other foods that used to contribute to blood sugar swings, wanting more & more and digestive upset that led to bingeing & purging. While these cravings were mostly allieviated by going on the Body Ecology Diet (BED), I could really see a major difference after the yeast was gone.

Emotional & Physical Hunger
As I’ve mentioned before, being on the BED has changed my experience of eating from feeling unfulfilled and needing more – to being totally satisfied with my meals and grounded in mind, body and spirit. While I do believe we eat for emotional reasons, I also believe we eat for physical reasons. I’m not sure how it all fits together, but from what I’ve learned about energy healing, I know that we have energy meridians surrounding our bodies. So when we have issues in our emotional, mental or spiritual energy fields, they do affect our physical body. This is one way that addiction and ill health occur. I’ll write more about this later. When you’ve done enough damage on the emotional, mental and spiritual energy fields, you may find – like I did – that you have issues lodged in your physical body. For me, it took shaking things up in the physical to heal the damage I did in the emotional and spiritual.
